    I think my HDD is failing , PLEASE HELP


    Everytime I turn on my laptop this shows up :

    Checking file system on c: file system is ntfs
    One of the disks have to be checked for consistency.

    First I let it finish but then it didn't show anything so I shut down my laptop by holding the power button. Now everytime I turn on my laptop i press ENTER because it says to press it within 10 sec to cancell the checking.
    I googled this and I installed 2 softwares , HD Tune and Crystal Disk .

    This is what they show :
    Can I fix it ?

    All of those things are giving you warnings of a pending hard drive failure. I would run chkdsk and see if it can help. but personally I would not trust the drive. It is also entirely too hot and may be an indication of cooling problems. That should be attended to right away. Overheating is one of the biggest killers of all computer components. You can download the manufacturer of your hard drive's diagnostic test, but I would suggest backing up your personal files to an external source now.

    Welcome to SF. As Essenbe stated back up all critical data first then tackle the heat and drive after. With ssd drives falling so low and depending on the volume of data, I would suggest imaging your drive to a new ssd. They run cooler and take way less energy as well don't spin as their non mechanical.

    Test the HD, run Disk Check, attend to the overheating from the Troubleshooting Steps for Windows 7.
