User account issue Hi,
I also have an user account issue. I have two user accounts, for example Tree and Trick. Tree is my primary user account and acts as the administrator.
The problem is:
The primary user account can't be accessed anymore, it's broken. But the secondary user account is accessable but has no admin right's. How to fix this issue??? I can not fix it with the DVD because it askes for the admin password from the primar user account. But I don't had a password installed on it!
Bottum line >> I can't fix the primary user account with my secondary account because Windows 7 asked for an password I never installed (yes I am really sure!!)
Has anubody a sollution without reinstalling Windows 7??
Thanks in advanced

Have you simply tried hitting enter when it asks for a password?
If you did or that doesn't work, repair install is best. There are ways to set a password with Linux-based Live disks, but that could be more troublesome then it's worth. Repair Install
Very important for security and sharing ability reasons to always set passwords on administrator accounts. If you want Windows to boot up to desktop still without you entering the password, use netplwiz in the start menu search box. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number self built OS 7600.20510 x86 CPU P4 550 3.4 GHz HT running at 3.5 GHz Motherboard MSI PM8M3-V (MS-7211 v1.x) Micro-ATX mainboard Memory OCZ 2 GB(2x1GB) DDR400mHz running @ 414 mHz Graphics Card HIS Radeon HD 3850 IceQ 3 Turbo HDMI Dual DL-DVI AGP Sound Card MOTU Traveler firewire studio interface 192 kHz 24 bit Monitor(s) Displays 22" widescreen Acer X223W LCD, 17" Compaq P75 CRT Screen Resolution 1680x1050 and 1280x1024 Keyboard Logitch Classical Keyboard 200 Mouse Logitech Mediaplay cordless PSU 350W generic Case Cybertronpc, it glows blue Cooling stock cpu fan, Ice-Q 3 gpu and system, many case fans Hard Drives SATA I x2 WD, 400 GB and 120 GB, SATA 2 WD Caviar Black 1 TB Internet Speed 1792/448 kbits/sec Other Info SATA II PCI fake RAID adapter, 1 GB Readyboost, original ATI Remote Wonder (even works with WMC perfectly), Logitech Rumblepad 2 game controller x2 |

You have to correct set in your BIOS boot options
Use system restore from WinRE. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Custom made OS Windows 7 Professional x64 PL CPU AMD Athlon 4450e Motherboard Giga-Byte GA-MA69G-S3H Memory GoodRam DDR2 2x2048MB (FSB 800MHz) Graphics Card nVidia GeForce 9600GT (G94-300) 1024 MB Monitor(s) Displays SAMSUNG SyncMaster HS2P301688 PSU Corsair 550W Cooling AeroCool ExtremeEngine 3T Hard Drives Seagate ST3750330AS 750GB |

What happens in safe mode?
If you boot from a live cd/dvd (WinPE) and rename the C:\Users\%Username% folder, you might be able to get in. It depends on how the account is broken, but you didn't really give any detail about it. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Too many to list. OS XP, Seven, 2008R2 CPU AMD, Intel, VIA Motherboard Various Memory Corsair, Kingston, etc. Graphics Card ATI, NVIDIA Monitor(s) Displays Samsung Keyboard qwerty Hard Drives Maxtor, Western Digital Internet Speed 22 Mb/s @ home, 1 Gb/s @ server Other Info All of my systems still run fastest on XP 32-bit for the most part. Win7 is fun to play with, but I still prefer XP for raw speed, security, and functionality. |

But the admin account is broken and I think it effects the secundairy account some how. It is possibly you have corrupted information about group policy in SAM,SECURITY hives in registry, but independly from your damages Win 7 DVD never ask you about login/password although there is ability unable to pass WinRE or System Restore due to seriously damaged registry files -If any registry file is very seriously corrupted Windows 7 DVD can reject fix it,but then is returned message about it.As I said before you have to check boot options in BIOS and make sure you use correct Windows 7 DVD not any manufacturer rescue disk!
If you don't have oryginal Windows 7 DVD instead you can also use to fix special recovery disk Download Windows 7 System Recovery Discs — The NeoSmart Files | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Custom made OS Windows 7 Professional x64 PL CPU AMD Athlon 4450e Motherboard Giga-Byte GA-MA69G-S3H Memory GoodRam DDR2 2x2048MB (FSB 800MHz) Graphics Card nVidia GeForce 9600GT (G94-300) 1024 MB Monitor(s) Displays SAMSUNG SyncMaster HS2P301688 PSU Corsair 550W Cooling AeroCool ExtremeEngine 3T Hard Drives Seagate ST3750330AS 750GB |

If you don't use accessibility stuff like Narrator, on-screen keyboard or magnifier, you could consider replacing utilman.exe with WindowsGate from Hiren's boot CD. it allows you to execute processes from the login screen with system permissions (and yes i know this is death of local security, but only if people know about it ) from there you can run command prompt or computer management.
(not relevant: ) WindowsGate is also quite useful if you need to take a screenshot of your login screen | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Custom OS Windows 7 build 7600 64 bit CPU Phenom II X4 955 retail 3.2GHz Motherboard ASRock M3A790GXH/USB3 ATX AMD AMD3 Memory 4x GeiL 2GB Value PC3-10660 CL9 DC DDR3-1333, CL 9-9-9-28 Graphics Card PowerColor Radeon HD5850 PCS+ 1024MB, 256-bit GDDR5 Sound Card Built in PSU Tacens Radix III Smart 520W Hard Drives G.Skill Phoenix Pro 120GB SATA2 SSD Sandforce SF-120
