Pinned recent items on taskbar frequently disappearing?

So now that I have one problem squared away (thanks to Kari), I have one more that I'm hoping to find a resolution for. This has been an ongoing problem for months as well.

On my taskbar, I have pinned programs (Windows Explorer, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access). From each of these pinned programs (when I right-click) I have certain recent items pinned at the top so I can access them more quickly.

The problem is that every now and then (at random) the items I pinned at the top of the lists just disappear (become unpinned) and don't even show up on my recent items lists.

I've done some research online and from what I understand, this can sometimes happen if a pinned item is moved to a different location, but that is not the case for these because I know they have not been moved.

It happens a lot with the pinned items I have under Windows Explorer and Excel, and occasionally with the pinned items I have under Access.

Does anyone know what could be causing this issue and how to prevent it from happening going forward?

Hello MetroBOS,

Do you use any programs like CCleaner that may have an option to clear jump lists?

For now, you could the tutorial below to be able to back up and restore your jump lists until you can get this sorted.

Not that I am aware of. Thank you for the link. I will be sure to back up my jump lists until I can find a final resolution.
