    Can i disable Windows Explorer auto folder refresh?

    Hello people

    I always need to rename lots of subfolders so i do this by alfabetical order, the problem is that sometimes i rename a folder from "aaa" to "Files 06-10" and then when i finish renaming explorer auto refresh it and the folder goes to the "F" folder section.

    How do i disable the auto refresh in windows explorer?

    As far as I know, no one has been able to do this. It is not an option in Windows 7.

    Maybe you find the answer here (it's for Vista but should work for 7)

    Code:

    Hi,

    You cannot disable auto refresh AFAIK but

    As a workaround , you can change the sorting options.

    1. Right-click in the window, choose Sort by->More.

    2. Only check Date Modified in the list.

    First of all, thanks for the replies!

    @Bill2
    Unluckly, sorting by date is often not very helpful, because I use to cut and paste old files, so the file timestamps are not changed.

    @pcs3657
    Your link seems to regard something else.

    Again, thanks for trying to help.
    Er... first "brutal" idea... maybe is somehow possibile to port XP's Explorer to Windows 7? Eheheh, this would fix...

    I have been looking for a fix for this problem forever. Nothing I try works
    The only option that seems even remotely workable is using a completely independent file manager
