Does Windows 7 have a built in function - and API or something - to aid the creation of "docked" windows?
A program I use has recently stopped displaying windows (or "panels" in its terminology) that used to be docked in the corner of another window. Before I remove and reinstall this program - a cumbersome process - I want to be sure I haven't just accidentally turned off a Windows display capability this program uses.

But I think in the case of an application moving windows as a group it's done by the program code. The only thing I heard of that splits a window is a Splitter Control. Before reinstalling the program I would look to see if it has its own forum. Someone may have dealt with the same issue.
Thanks for your suggestion. I've now turned off Automatic Window Resizing and Docking. That didn't fix my problem, but it eliminated behavior that has been irritating me for eons. :)
I have asked about this problem on the product's forum but nobody has seen it before. Asking here was sort of my last gasp.

You could try searchimg the Registry safely with something like RegScanner
for the company name of the publisher. See if it has related settings there. You can use ERUNT
and/or a Restore Point to back up the Registry before attempting any changes.
Hopefully someone else familiar with it will chime in.
Unfortunately, there are hundreds of entries by Sibelius because that's where it stores most user config options. I'd never be able to identify a broken or mis-set entry. However, if I decide to uninstall and reinstall Sibelius (again), I'll clean up the directory before reinstalling.
The scanner has "regular expression" support. This lets you search for things like:
company name followed by anything then the word "dock". There are free Gui programs that create the RegEx string for you or lets you test it on given text. Here's one

Edit: In RegScanner there's a drop down box near the search string for the type of match.
