    MouseKeys settings won't save

Hello. I wish to enable the MouseKeys accessibility feature, but it won't save the options when I save them.

    What I did:
    1. Went to "Ease of Access Center" > "Make the keyboard easier to use" > "Set up Mouse Keys". None of the boxes were checked.
    2. I checked all the checkboxes for options I want, including "Turn on Mouse Keys" of course.
    3. I press OK and it takes me back to "Make the keyboard easier to use". I notice that the checkbox for "Turn on Mouse Keys" is not checked.
    4. I go back in to "Set up Mouse Keys" and nothing is checked again.

Those are the basic steps, but I also tried these to no avail:
    - Pressing Apply then OK (pure superstition, I know :)).
    - Enabling the checkbox on the "Make the keyboard easier to use" page instead of the settings page.
    - Clicking OK repeatedly all the way out before looking at the settings again.
    - Going into the settings from "Make the mouse easier to use" instead.
    - Trying Ctrl+Shift+NumLock to see if it turned on and just wasn't showing it.
    - Searched the internet to try to find a similar problem. the closest I saw was someone's networking settings not working because they didn't have all the right windows services activated, so I looked through the services but didn't see anything obviously related to windows settings or accessibility.

Please help me work out what is stopping the settings being saved.

Did you restart after applying the settings?

Please Run sfc /scan now using option 2 in this tutorial: SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

    Please post back the results.
Please indicate what message was displayed at the end:

    Windows found no integrity violations

    OR

Corrupt files were found, and windows was unable to fix them.

    OR

Corrupt files were found, and windows successfully repaired themDid you restart after applying the settings?

    Thanks for the response. :)

I ran the sfc tool but it reported: "Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations."

As for restarting, it's a bit weird.
When I started this thread I had not restarted the computer. The boxes were all unchecked as soon as I left the window and came back in.
I have since restarted so I just looked at the settings again and it now has "Turn on Mouse Keys" checked. But it has not saved any of my settings under "Set up Mouse Keys".
So while technically I can use numpad keys to move the mouse cursor, it is way too slow (moves only a couple of inches across the screen after 10 seconds of holding it down), I can't turn it on and off with a shortcut, etc.

Any idea what could have caused the delay in turning the setting on, or how to make the other settings stick?

I'm not sure you're using the steps needed. I've tried to compare what you did to the Windows How-to, but kept losing my place. My eyes are tired.

Use Mouse Keys to move the mouse pointer

    See if those instructions help.

    Layback Bear,
Thanks for the links. See Speccy information for my PC attached to this post.

    Bill,
My problem is that the MouseKeys settings won't save. Those instructions don't cover it.

I'm not sure what you mean by Key information. I searched for "Key" in the speccy file and didn't find anything interesting. Did I accidentally post something that would compromise the security of my machine?

I don't see any attachment on your posts, so perhaps Barman meant to post in a another thread- it happens.
The information Barman referred to would not compromise the security on your machine, the Key information is related to licensing.

A PUBLISHED Speccy does the work for you, there is no sensitive information in the report. But again, I don't see any links or attachments on you posts.

It would be helpful if you follow Layback's directions and provide a PUBLISHED Speccy.
