Is DELLUTILITY File system :FAT32 or NTFS?

    Is DELLUTILITY File system :FAT32 or NTFS?


    I am using a Dell laptop.

    Recently, I used Minitool Partition Wizard Home Edi. 8.1.1. to try and recover a RAW Kingston DT101 USB 2.0 pendrive using Partition Recovery Wizard.

    The Partition Recovery Wizard process failed to turn the pendrive usable under FAT32.

    I found out under MTPWHE 8.1.1. that the file system DELLUTILITY is now under FAT32?

    Should DELLUTILITY file system be FAT32 as all Windows 7 file system are all under NTFS?

    Hi

    Dell utility partition is used for storing the diagnostic utilities which can be run by pressing F12 during power on and selecting "Diagnostics". Usually the diagnostic tools will be run on top of a customized version of "FreeDOS". The only file system DOS understands is FAT. Reading or writing to NTFS from DOS is very difficult as NTFS is a complex file system and the inner working of it is a trade secret of Microsoft. Currently most Linux distros support read/write to NTFS but this is possible by reverse engineering NTFS. Even today, writing to NTFS from Linux is not recommended by experts ( although NTFS support in Linux is very stable now thanks to drivers like 'ntfs3g"etc).
