    LCD of Laptop is dark, while pluged in


    Hi all.
    I am using Dell Inspiron 1520 on Windows 7 SP1.


    I have a sudden problem :


    The LCD is real dark, but when i disconnect the ac adaptor, it is ok. Also : there is no problem while using the battery. But while plugged in, the brightness is low.

    Hmmm.. mj2000 .. sounds like a bad ac adapter . Any chance.. you can swap out with a known good one ?

    I am using my original ac adapter. Anyway i used another compatible one, the problem still exists.

    Is the laptop old?

    It sounds like something is shorting inside the case.

    Blow all the visible just away.

    What is the brightness set to while plugged in ?

    Have you tried the laptop brightness controls? a quick google says pressing the "FN" key + the up arrow should do it.

    Check also in Control Panel>Power Options>Change Plan Settings what the Screen Brightness settings are when on A/C power:
