Why am I prevented from installing a program by group policy?

I have never set any group policies. In fact, I don't even know what they are. But occasionally, when I try to install certain programs, even running as administrator, I get the evil dialog box as seen in the attachment...

What does this mean? Why is it here? How do I stop these messages?

And the program I am trying to install is Picasa...certainly a safe installation from Google.

    Hello nkoss,

Since you didn't set any group policies, you could use the tutorial below to reset all group policies back to default settings to hopefully undo this for you.

Local Group Policy - Reset to Default

    Hope this helps, :)

    You're most welcome. :)

Since you didn't set this, it would be recommended to do a full scan of your system with a program like Malwarebytes Free to help make sure that your system is clean.

Don't mean to hijack this thread and I apologize in advance.

I seem to have lost my free version of Mbam and your link, even though it says Free Version says it is a trial program.

Same program I downloaded last week.

    Happy 4th!!

    Hey Paul,

Are you sure you downloaded the free version, and not the 14-day trial premium by mistake?

    Hi Brink,

The link shows the same version that I downloaded, so I am really confused.

It says free, but if you look in my attachment you'll see it's the same one.

I think they changed something, because another problem I have is that even though I unchecked scheduled scans, it still scans without my permission and screws up my Sleep shutdown.

The only way to stop it, is to exit.

    Hi Brink,

    I found the problem,

You have to uncheck Real time Protection on the main page.

That makes it the free program.

    Sorry to have bothered you.
