Those articles have been popping up all over the place but MS will still issue security updates for 5 years. What will stop is "free" hotfixes and "design changes or new features".

Meanwhile WIn7 continues to climb in market share above 50% while its successor can't break 10%.
This is what would likely have happened if CocaCola had doubled down on New Coke instead of providing a textbook example of how to back out gracefully.

Yea I wouldn't worry about the Microsoft extended support,
Real support comes from Sevenforums
Thank goodness that:
1) Microsoft will no longer be officially 'trying to improve on Window 7.'
2) Security fixes will continue for another 5 years
3) We have sevenforums for support
4) Microsoft has 5 more years to learn from CocaCola!
