Navigating Explorer using arrow keys - new behaviour

I like to navigate Explorer using the arrow keys.
In XP, when I selected a folder with say my down arrow key, the contents of the folder would be displayed. That's what I am used to.

However using Seven and navigating with arrow keys the folder contents are not refreshed. They continue to show the previous folder.
I have to touch the space bar to get it to display the files in a folder.
I am not used to this and I don't like it one little bit
Surely this behaviour is not the way forward
Please reassure me...

I hate to say it but Vista was this way as well. I never used that feature so I don't care but this is not new behavior unless you never used Vista.

Since Vista, pressing Left/Right while in an expandable branch/folder will expand/shrink the current branch/folder

I was able to scroll in windows Vista, I agree, its really annonying, does anyone know how to fix it? If you want to scroll through folders really quickly surely there is a way to do it?
