special request for someone with a win7 test system or environment

Hi,

If someone might have a win7 64 test system or environment and would not mind testing something for me, it would be greatly appreciated.

Long story short i had my dunce hat on and was not paying attention and ran a software install meant for linux on my win7 system. It did not install but i want to find out if there are any left over files or anything left over from that process because i booted off the disk and it did perform a few tasks before it went to blue screen.

Ok the little longer part lol.... I had been shopping for a way to save on the phone bill and someone from a forum highly suggested i try this freePBX deal. So since i trusted this person i was happy as a lark and tired cause i been up all night i went to the site, blindly downloaded the ISO file and made the cd. Rebooted with the cd and watched the code fly by on the screen. Then it went to blue screen and i thought mmm whats wrong here. So i hit cntr alt del and just a sec later it showed some lines of text about /usr/ whatever files not found.

When i saw that i was like oh you idiot its for the server not here. So i actually read the site and it said linux plain as day. So yes perfect for my linux server but not for my windows PC lol...

I did not want to go thru that process again for fear it would actually break something next time.

So i was wondering if anyone had a test system if they could DL the freePBX distro from freepbx.org/freepbx-distro and then click on the iso with a cd in your drive and make the install cd. Then boot off that cd. It will do some stuff and then go to blue screen. Press cntrl alt del and wait just a sec and you will see where the three usr addresses pop up then its done and it will try to boot again so take your cd out.

I want to know if it changes anything in your test system and if it leaves any files behind at all. I know this is alot to ask but it would sure mean alot since i dont have a test system to see for myself.

Thanks

ps this software is a complete phone software with OS and all. Its part of the asterisk deal i think.

The system is not showing any issues so no i did not do a restore, didnt see the need to at the time. But then i got to thinking a day later after i got some sleep, what if it actually did perform some tasks and what if there are files left over.

No I don't have a system to try it on.

Linux probable didn't do anything because it was the wrong Linux for your system and couldn't.
I would use a restore point before you tried this just to make sure and then do a
scan using this sfc /scannow with this tutorial by Brink. Just to make sure it didn't mess with Windows 7 system files.

SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

sfc with elevated cmd prompt as admin came back clean as a whistle... so i guess its all good then..

whewww, im so lucky it didnt format my hard drive, cause that was it was made to do. It says it will format the disk, i guess i took that too literally to mean the iso disk i made not the hard drive. I would say they should word that better but then again i should not have had my head were it was either lol..

So no worries right ?

Howdy neighbor... i bet its hotter than you know what there, it is here..

It kind of all started because i have an 800 number thru 800.com and someone keeps calling the number and leaving nothing but junk sounds on the message forever... and running my balance down. Just prank calls.. But they dont allow me to block calls or really much of any features to speak of so i wanted something i could block and something that i could be in control of.

And thats how i was referred to the freePBX and also i downloaded asterist but luckily i didnt do anything with that disk lmao... Problem is these softwares are designed as a whole drive software, you cant partition you cant put them in a file, they have their own OS. But i cant afford to have one software like that take up a whole drive on my VPS my company is not big enough for that. So thats why i was doing this. I have heard good and bad about that jack but it wont help me with toll free though..

I've had a personal 800 number with AT&T for about 20 years, only people that can access it are those I give the access code to, got it when my son starting diving in high school and traveling to meets.
