    2 weird problems

I have a windows 7 64-bit home premium laptop which has been working fine so far after a long time.
Recently though i have had 2 problems that i've never faced before and i cant find anything about on google.
(the problems started at aproximately the same time)

    1) Everytime i open my pc, the windows bootloader appears and asks me to select an operating system. I know this is standar with systems with 2 or more operating systems, but i only have one version of windows installed and have never tryied to install a second one. At the bootloader screen only one entry appears, which when selected opens the version of windows i had installed. I also checked the bootloader settings at msconfig and everything seems normal(there is only one entry here as well) Why would the it ask me to choose an operating system when there is only one installed?

2)This is probably the weirdest problem i've ever seen on a windows pc. Everytime i open click on my desktop the last file gets selected. If i try to click on another file with my mouse, the last file still stays selected. I can use the arrow keys to select other files though, and open them with enter. The same thing happens in safe mode.

    Any ideas ?

Hello Spirosbomberkl, and welcome to Seven Forums. :)

Q1) Check to make sure that the Time to Display the List of Operating Systems at Boot box is unchecked in OPTION ONE of the tutorial below to see if that may be the issue.
Q2) Odd. See if refreshing (F5) the desktop may sort it.

I tried what you said about the first problem, it's ok now.
I also managed to fix the second one: i found out that the problem was my keyboard.(I use an external one, my laptop's is too small for comfortable gaming) For some reason, when the pc was starting it was like the down arrow was constantly pressed and so the last file was selected.(Found out by opening notepad, pressing enter a few times and putting the cursor on the first line: the cursor moved to the last like if i was pressing the down arrow.) This stopped thow when i pressed any key on the keyboard. If I disconnected it and connected it again, the same thing would happen. I took off the down arrow key, moved what was under it around a bit with a pen, put the key back on and it was fixed.
No idea what exactly happened but it's solved now. Thank you for everything.

    Great news.

It was probably just a crumb or something that got down in the key sticking it down.
