Jack,
It doesn't sound like you would, but did you by any chance use Windstream's in-house security program?
From reading your thread I found that Verizon Fios (Vz) uses a Verizon Internet Security suite, it's a knockoff from Radialpoint:
When I had Vz installed I told them that I didn't want to use any of their security services. I checked through my machine and didn't find any VerizonServicepoint.exe files or the ones from Radialpoint on this list either; SystemLookup - Radialpoint Servicepoint.exe - O23 List. Looks like Virgin Com/Media, Rogers, Bell, and TelUs use it also.Verizon Servicepoint is an application used by the Verizon Internet Security Suite services to deliver up-to-date information on security issues to subscribers, to ensure that the software or updates required for services subscriptions is delivered and ready to use, and to allow Verizon Online to communicate with subscribers regarding Verizon Online services.

Scroll down about half way to "Our Clients" to check the logos: Radialpoint. Your Windstream is there plus the others I mentioned earlier.
I'm a little miffed though, Vz's not listed!
