Hello Stevey, and welcome to Seven Forums.

That's an older laptop that came with XP preinstalled. It's CPU does indeed only support 32-bit Windows.

You should be able to install a 32-bit Windows 7, but not sure you'll find any Windows 7 drivers for it.

hi thankyou very much for that info.what operating system would you suggest for the laptop.i purchased it initially as got it for a good price and its in mint condition.just wondering what options i have other than xp as that has no support now so would be pointless.

Since you already have Windows 7. It wouldn't hurt to install the 32-bit version to see how it runs on it. :)

That's ok. You can download the 32-bit Windows 7 ISO file for your edition at the link below.

Afterwards, you can create a bootable DVD/USB from the ISO to use to install the 32-bit Windows with.

    Sorry, it'll be the x86 one. x86 stands for 32-bit. :)

Do you have a Windows 7 activation key for it ?

If you don`t, it would be best to re install XP on it.

Your other option would be to install a Linux Distro.

Your laptop may struggle (with Linux or Windows 7) as your specs indicate you only have 512 MB of RAM.
