    Losing posts in here

Have for some time now seen the Ivy Bridge get slower and slower and start to do some pretty annoying things for example typing out quite along post to a thread only for it to disappear when I clcik on a spelling mistake or insert something.

have done chkcdsk sfc scans galore even the rootkit from Kaspersky and I am beginning to think I might have to reinstall and use my back up images fr that but I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas before I go down THAT track

I have got my CPU clocked at 4.5MHz and RAM to the max - 2400MHz if that has any bearing on it but only did that out of trying to get some more speed back into the machine which used to go like stink.

John lets stick with this because I don't think your over clock has anything to do with this.

Which computer is having the problem.

Is their anything else you are having such problems?
Other forums or maybe other programs like Word, Office, NotePad.

    Hi there.

This might be a silly suggestion -- ignore if so - but I've often had different behaviour on the Forums using the SAME computer but logged on either in a different country or a different ISP. On Virgin media fibre optic cable for example I've had the annoying "Random cursor" movement and sometimes pressing a key loses the whole post - fixed by disabling the touchpad but obviously not applicable on a desktop of course.

Check the video driver first - and then if it's a laptop try and disable the touchpad.

Restoring an image might help - but also see if you've been using a different ISP. I've noticed the effect when the ISP is a mega fast broadband cable / fibre optic type so that could be an issue as well.

    Cheers

Jack have been having problems logging into say Paypal but like jimbo says just touching the keyboard send the message into space.
It also alwasy seems to be at the end of an extensive post and you can appreciate the tedium of retyping it is.

I have downloaded the latest NVidia drivers after it popped an update up - maybe it is that although my other machines - the laptop. Sandy Bridge, and tester all running of the same modem network are going real good, and I have loaded that driver onto them in any case.

I am beginning to get a nasty gut feeling about the SSD to be truthful as the "flag never went further than four small spots whereas now they join and staying glowing for some time. Now for the record I did update BIOS a while ago but it seemed ok at the time and for some time after. The other worrying thing is the post screen takes forever to come up.
I've tried setting it to the minimum in the BIOS etc etc and stopped all of the start up programs in msconfig.

So am left scratching around for an answer.

John if I'm understanding you correctly everything is running slow including booting.

Your bios have been updated but it's been a while and they worked okay.
Your over clock is back to default.
    You get no BSOD
You have updated your nVIDIA driver.
**How long was the new driver in use before this problem started.

I really don't know what a ssd does when it goes bad except just quite.
**What brand of ssd do you have and does it have a program like a tool box you can test the ssd?
Intel has a Tool Box program to do such things and Samsung has the Magician program.

**How are your temps? That could cause a throttling.
**Have you done a visual inspection for dust and crud and fans operation?

Are we on the same page? Do I understand you correctly?

Have you checked that all of your cables and sockets are in good condition and properly seated (RAM and cards too)?

My friend's laptop had some weird graphics issue.
I suspected that his graphics card (or RAM) may have come loose.
I convinced him to disassemble it and then reassemble it again.

It took several hours, but it fixed his graphics problem.

Temps are fine nothing went wrong form shortly after the BIOS update the NVidia update driver loaded yesterday but the problem was already in progress.

SSD is an EVO 256GB and yes I have Magician which I shall run again to see if there is anything to be done there. Visual inspection shows the very thinnest of dust cover - nothing I would worry about (I have all openings covered with my own home made filters form build time).

Yes we are on the same page mate except I still have the CPU at 4.5 I'll default that right now.

The reseating I shall do tomorrow as it has been a long day and don't feel in the best of health and a bit tired but it is a possibility that one or more of the slots hardwares has got a little loose or dirty.

From what I see your system shouldn't be slow.

Check Device Manger for any problems.
Event Viewer might also give some answers.

Are you using a Marvell or a Intel sata III 6.0?
