Windows 7 New HP Laptop?

I would like to lockin (whatever) it takes to have all windows full screen when they are opened. Please make it simple as I don't know much about computers. I also have this problem with my PC using Vista.

Hello Bud, and welcome to Seven Forums.

In Window 7, all Windows Explorer windows share the same size and position of whatever the last window was closed as. They do not have independant size and position settings for each one.

To do what you want, open a Windows Explorer windows, size it how you want, then close it. All Windows Explorer windows will now open like this as long as you close them with the same size. Installed 3rd party program windows will have to be done one by one to have them be remembered though.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

Shawn thanks for the welcome. I am just getting around to trying out Win 7. There are two problems I am having.

1. Even though I open and close windows full screen, it seems that the window opens full width but it is not full depth with the bottom being up about 2 inches.

2. Would like to get the start tray to show the desktop so I can go between the desktop and other open windows.

Bud,

Q1) Do you mean the "Details Pane" at the bottom. If so, then you can drag that line up to increase the size.

Q2) This can help show you how to use the Show Desktop button for this on the taskbar.

Shawn, I am aware of using the 2 headed arrow to get the tray to be wide or narrow. What I really want is to be able to do is have a box on the tray that lets me point and click it to show the desktop as I have on my vista pc. The Win +D is okay but more of a pain to do.

You can use the the Show Desktop (click on this link) button at the far right on the taskbar for this.
