32 bit or 64 bit Windows Enterprise on 2gb of ram?

    Hello,

The computers at our company are outdated and only have 2gb of ram. They are not willing to purchase new machines or upgrade the ram in them so we will have to make do for now.

I realize this question comes up often, but this is for an enterprise environment.

They are Dell Optiplexs with Core 2 Duos. As said, only 2gb of ram. They are typically only used for web browsing and Microsoft Office.

Would it be best to run the 32 bit or 64bit version of Windows 7 and all of the programs that will be installed as well?

    Thanks

As AddRAM says, Widows 7 32 bit & Office 32 bit. Install all other programs in the 32 bit format as well.

You'll get better performance out of 32 on any less than 4gb RAM.

Other tips here compiled to assure you get and keep a perfect install are the the same as for Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7

Agree with the 32 bits thing. Not only x64 uses more resources (hence requires more RAM), but actually very few programs really take advantage of 64 bits computing, specially on typical office usage. No reason for x64, or even for more RAM, imho.
