i shut it down, by powering it off .. silly thing 4me 2do .. so im guessing i fried it by doing that

Maybe C partition is corrupt now. chkdsk (check disk) can hopefully fix that.

Disk Check OPTION TWO. So do it from "command prompt".
to enter command prompt (unbootable win7) : Command Prompt at Startup

i honestly dont know, i got it off my neighbour, it had windows 7 on it originally, she tried to upgrade it to vista .. when we got it, we had to put it in the shop cos it was too slow to go online ..

You mean the other way around I assume. VISTA was originally on machine. Later upgraded to WIN7. Who did the upgrade? He or she should have the win7 install dvd.

If you have GRUB as bootmanager on the machine .... most likely you have a pirated version of WIN7!!
We don't help people with illegal WIN7.
