Freezing upon Win 7 Start up.

    Howdy,

Having some trouble with a laptop. What happens is the computer will become unresponsive after some normal use (Mouse still moves but nothing works) and I will have to hard boot it to resume using it. This cycle repeats until it becomes unresponsive at the login screen or just after login (Mouse can be moved but nothing works) I am able to use Safemode w/ Networking just fine. I can choose to do a system restore and it will allow normal use again but will eventually start having the same issue again, being able to use the laptop for a while until it becomes unresponsive after login /login screen.

    Steps attempted.
    Chkdsk
    Malwarebytes Scan
    System Restore
    Disabling Startup items

    Samsung 700Z5B - Intel i7 - Windows 7 64bit -

    Thank you for any suggestions.

I think you should make more info about:
1- What do you mean by unresponsive (while mouse works)?
2- From when it became this way (e.g., after installing an app, a hardware, ....)?
3- Have you tried system file checker?
    .

    Hello and welcome to Sevenforums!

Just as a shot in the dark, open cmd as administrator and run sfc /scannow

Also, since you seem to be ok in Safe mode w/ Networking, try performing a Clean Boot (How to perform a clean boot in Windows) and narrow down what services might be causing the problem.

Thank you, I am working on the Clean Boot. Sfc /Scannow has finished and it stats "Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations"

Also what I mean by the mouse working is that I can still move it but nothing can be opened.

Also you can try another mouse on your system or maybe there is some problem with the mouse driver.
And try whether can you open the folders or run files by keyboard. Use Tab key then Enter on the target.
Hope you can find the error source.
