How do you know which files were corrupted?

To what stage can you boot?

Can you boot to safe mode?

I can log in and be presented with a black screen. The HDD is still loading so iI don't want to interrupt it. Can't bring task manager up. It might be restoring stuff so I'm not sure I should force a reboot.

So you CAN logon now. Screen is completely black now. HDD light is flashing all the time (so busy)?
Mouse pointer? text cursor? Wait an hour or until HDD doesn't flash anymore. Or desktop appear of course.
    Keep me informed

getting into safe mode now. probably a driver issue, so i'm going to put back the driver folders i took. i really want to know what's hogging all the space from the other windows install, can't really do a repair install with only 6 gigs free. how much would i need for an upgrade? i might get a new version of windows.

Did you power off machine because nothing was happening on "normal boot" for a long time?

    Safe mode works?

You can only do a upgrade install from within win7 normal mode. Not from safe mode!

It uses about 15GB I assume. You can cleanup later
