Reinstalling Windows 7 onto a Dell Inspiron 1545

    Hi all,
First time poster long time reader, I am currently trying to reinstall windows 7 home premium 64 bit onto a dell inspiron 1545 with very little success, I have a windows 7 disk and a dell drivers and utilities disk and the problem I am having is after windows loads files, language selection, start setup I get the message a CD/DVD driver is missing. I then put the drivers disk into the drive and get the message no device drivers were found. Make sure the installation media contains the correct drivers. I have made the recovery disks and put them away for safekeeping (so safe in fact that I can no longer find them) so that option is now gone as is the restore from factory image PLEASE HELP as I am about to go insane and kill the laptop.

Oh and please talk to me in laymans terms as I am not a super programmer :)

You may try this. As far as I am aware, there were never any driver issues with this .iso.

Thanks for the quick reply, the problem with this is that it requires an internet connection and as I currently have a brick for a laptop, I reformatted the hard drive earlier today (in hindsight not my most triumphant moment) I have been having this issue for over a week now again with hindsight should have posted earlier but I have tried everything to get a new install of windows onto this damn thing and all have failed, I even tried installing windows onto a usb drive which brought its own issues into the mix, main one being that it was the boot drive but not the system. I will try using that drive to at least get me in and try the steps listed if this fails I shall return.

If the PC came with Windows 7, and you haven't deleted the Dell restoration, the Dell PC Restore (recovery partition) can be accessed by F8 at power on and that will allow you to restore the PC to the original factory condition, and no discs are needed.

Thanks for the tip although as previously mentioned I had already made the recovery disks and lost them so this wasn't a viable option as it's gone .

But Jack is right. If you still have the recovery partition, you can go from there.

I am glad you got it sorted. Removing the recovery partition was not a really smart move, LOL.
