Reinstalling Windows 7 onto a Dell Inspiron 1545

Thanks for the quick reply, the problem with this is that it requires an internet connection and as I currently have a brick for a laptop, I reformatted the hard drive earlier today (in hindsight not my most triumphant moment) I have been having this issue for over a week now again with hindsight should have posted earlier but I have tried everything to get a new install of windows onto this damn thing and all have failed, I even tried installing windows onto a usb drive which brought its own issues into the mix, main one being that it was the boot drive but not the system. I will try using that drive to at least get me in and try the steps listed if this fails I shall return.

If the PC came with Windows 7, and you haven't deleted the Dell restoration, the Dell PC Restore (recovery partition) can be accessed by F8 at power on and that will allow you to restore the PC to the original factory condition, and no discs are needed.

Thanks for the tip although as previously mentioned I had already made the recovery disks and lost them so this wasn't a viable option as it's gone .

I had deleted said partition but your other post worked a treat, thank you for all the help and quick replies.
