cmd.exe not working from shortcut windows 7

I can run cmd.exe from c:\windows\system32 without a problem. However if I run a shortcut pointing to c:\windows\system32\cmd.exe it doesn't appear on the screen or under applications in Task Manager. Although it is listed under processes on Task Manager.

Right click on CMD and create the short cut that way.

Is there not a shortcut to Command in your Start Menu under Accessories? You might try copying THAT shortcut and Pasting it where ever it is you want it. I usually open sessions from the Run dialogue box... Not exactly sure what you are trying to do here.

Must say, if I navigate to the System32 folder I can double click the EXE and a command window opens... And it contains the modifications I set as default.

I don't seem to get this issue on Windows 7 or Windows 8.

If i Right Click >> Create Shortcut >> Paste C:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe into the location >> Click Next and give it a name.

When i double click it i get the black command windows open as normal.

    Regards,

Right tick on the cmd short cut. Go to properties and then advanced.
    Select run as admin.

That's how I discovered this anomaly - the shortcut under accessories ie. it doesn't work.

If you just right tick on the cmd. short cut and in the drop down window select
Run as Admin does the cmd. work as it should?
