Anyone find that Apply to all folders doesn't work?

I got so peeved trying to get a Vista generic desktop backround pic to be incorporated easy.
    I downloaded one.

I chose "Classic" windows theme because doing so, that feature allows the easiest way to "right click your net downloaded backround" and Windows will make it your backround.

I find Windows customization to be a real chore for something as simple as incorporating a desktop backround with Windows 7, and even with Vista.

Anyhoo...I still am opening up folders where the window shows just the name of the file without any "Details" applied to it. I then change the View options to show more than the files name. I choose "Details"...and it happens. Great. But...then when I go to Tools and Folder Options, the Apply to All Folders is greyed out. I look at the check boxes and the box is checked for "Show Details." I have to manually do it myself (once) for each folder not previously opened and apply "show details/list.

Is this because I chose the Windows "Classic" Color (from the big list)? It may be.

I found incorporating a downloaded desktop backround into Windows 7 a bit confusing.
That's why I scrolled down to the Windows Classic area.

Whats up with me not able to apply settings in one folder to all folders? I think its because I chose "Windows Color" (and went from there) from the bottom of that windows 7 Theme and Backround area. It may be the cause of this. Windows 7 gives you backrounds, and almost forces ya to use those. Why do I say this? Because I gave up using Windows 7 confusing desktop backround procedure if you want to incorporate one that's not given to ya.

I freaking found it easier to just go Windows Color (old style) and get my downloaded desktop image with a simple right mouse click (make this windows backround).

    Hello Caslon,

You will just need to open Folder Options from within that folder (Windows Explorer) window for Apply to All Folder to not be grayed out. That's all. :)

Another option is to set a default folder template with the same folder view (ex: details) to be used by all folders as well.

    Folder Template - Default

    Hope this helps,
    Shawn
