    1. Put the Windows 7 or Windows Vista installation disc in the disc drive, and then start the computer.
    2. Press a key when the message Press any key to boot from CD or DVD appears.
    3. Select a language, a time, a currency, a keyboard or another input method, and then click Next.
    4. Click Repair your computer.
    5. Click the operating system that you want to repair, and then click Next.
    6. In the System Recovery Options dialog box, click Command Prompt.
    7. Type Bootrec /RebuildBcd, and then press ENTER.

did you press enter to boot from the DVD? Your DVD might not be bootable (scratches, problem with the burner...)

When you see "Boot from CD/DVD" on the screen hit "Enter" and it should boot from the DVD. You should then see a "Repair System" on the screen. Choose that and hopefully the Bootmgr will be repaired.

You're not booting the disk correctly. Is this a known-good disk that will boot OK in another PC? If not try another disk from Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7.

You can also try accessing System Recovery Options via the F8 key at boot.

Then run Startup Repair to see if it will resolve the problem. If not try System Restore as far back as necessary.

If not boot into BIOS setup to see if the HD is detected. If not reinstall or reseat it to try to get it detected, under Storage Devices or in Boot order where it will often appear by it's Serial Number. You can google the number to find out the make and model.

If HD is detected but won't repair then test the HD with maker's Hard Drive Diagnostic Procedure extended CD scan.

Then you can either replace the HD and skip to reinstall, continue with Troubleshooting Windows 7 Failure to Boot, or skip to running Recovery or Reinstall.
