all pictures deleted

I copied 'my pictures' folder to my desktop, then later deleted it. it kept recurring and I kept deleting it - and it was empty.
I then moved the empty 'my pictures' (on my desktop) to my personal folders, which then deleted all my photos.
please please help

Also the previous versions show that the other folders are all empty

Hi aaliajsb and welcome to the forum. If you deleted your photos then they will show in your recycle bin. Just select them there and click restore! If they are not there then click on the start button and in the search box type *.jpg and that will locate all the .jpg files on your system.

I have not deleted the pictures, I tried merging the empty 'my pictures' folder into the 'my pictures' folder but it replaced it.
they are not in the recycle bin, nor can I find them from the start button

Sorry I am confused, in your first post you said "which then deleted all my photos." Now you say they are not deleted but you can't find them. Are you talking about the folder named My Pictures in Libraries?
