Runtime error with pinger? Pls help

I am getting a runtime error when trying to install PINGER. This is a problem because pinger worked fine for up to a year until last week when it crashed. I uninstalled, cold booted and I could not reinstall without the error coming up at the end of the install.

"This application has requested the RUNTIME to terminate in an unusual way. Please contact the applications support team."

I have contacted Pinger and they said it is a windows issue. any ideas?

Uninstall PINGER, then do a search in regedit for the term "PINGER" and delete all folders that appear to be related to that program. Also unhide files in windows and look for pinger in application data folder and delete that too. You could do a system restore back a week or two and see if it's still ok there. I'd do a system and registry cleanup with ccleaner too. It's a free program. When you go to reinstall, rt click and select run as admin.

Ok, I tried and tried. Not working.
Here is what I did.
1) Tried to uninstall, said it wasn't installed even though the icon was in the add/remove
2) Ran regedit - found every instance and deleted it
3) Ran cc cleaner and cleaned out all registry items
4) cold booted
5) ran regedit again and found a few more instances, deleted them
6) cold booted
7) ran regedit again and it found nothing.
8) downloaded a new fresh install
9) ran the install and it says "do you want to MODIFY, REPAIR OR REMOVE PINGER?" Where did this come from? I got rid of everything, there shouldn't be a trace of pinger. What happened? It obviously didn't uninstall !

Just found a shortcut to Pinger (how can this be here?!?!) and found the whole directory with pinger files in it. I guess the regedit does not include all file. I cannot uninstall this because there is no uninstaller - should I just delete the whole director?!?!?!

You need to search the main drive too. There is probably a pinger folder in app data. Might be called something else other than pinger, like the manufacturers company name. App data is hidden by default, so show hidden files in folder options.

C:\Users\(Your ID here)\AppData\Roaming

Also in program files or program files 86, delete the folder after uninstalling. Sometimes they leave remnants.

You could ask pinger if they have an uninstall cleanup tool for their software.
As a test, if nothing else works, make another id and see if it works there.

Ok thank you. I renamed the folder with the pinger files in it, but when I try to reinstall it still seems to find the MODIFY, REPAIR or REMOVE. I tried REMOVE from the options, but it says "Pinger is not installed"

There are still remnants then. Did you check app data? Search the whole pc for the word pinger and delete all(except for your install file). Then do the same in registry, again avoiding the reference to where your install file is. Then try the installer again. If it still has repair, etc, then there is a reg entry called something else. When you get to the software part of the reg and you see folders for each prog you have installed, delete the pinger folder, and also keep a look out for the company name.

Another idea is to install it on another pc, (or your other dual boot os) then copy the pinger prog files folders contents over to the unhappy pc. Maybe this will allow an uninstall, since all it really wants is the uninst.exe file in there. (possibly)

you know to hit f3 as next when searching the reg right?

Pinger runs fine on my old computer and I have three old install files for pinger, none of them work because it says that Pinger is still installed.
1) Running Regedit again - nothing came up - hit F3 all the way through X 2
2) Did a search for Pinger - it says it found the folder, but the folder has been deleted and the search hasn't been indexed since the deletion. Looked for the folder and it is not there - has been deleted. Emptied the recycle bin.
3)Ran cc Cleaner again - found nothing
4) looked in the User>ME>Appdata folder found two instances of it in Roaming and Local, deleted both of them
5) Downloaded a fresh copy of Pinger
6) Looked for the company name for Pinger, but could only find Pinger.
7) Ran an old version of Pinger.exe and it says "Cannot run with an newer version installed"
8) Emailed the company about a way to remove it.

What happens if you try to install the latest version of Pinger? If no go, install Everything Search. Let it run until it fills out the list of files, then type pinger in at the top. Delete everything that belongs to the Pinger program.

I ran a Regedit, ran Everything Search, deleted all entries and downloaded a fresh install of Pinger. Same result. It asks me if I want to REPAIR, MODIFY or REMOVE. Crazy.
