windows easy transfer problem
Hello, again,
I received great response and help from forum members on my last problem, now I have run into another one! LOL
I am trying to use Windows Easy Transfer to send my files from my old computer to my new one. Both computers are running Windows 7, both are identical computers (Dell XPS Studio 8000 desktops). I opened easy transfer on both computers, picked the network transfe optionr, got the transfer key, entered it in the new computer, and watched while everything loaded to the new computer.
When it was ready, I clicked "transfer". I got an error message that the computer was not connected to my domain (whatever that means, as the new computer is part of my HomeGroup). So, rather than fight it, I got a data transfer cable, and tried again. Now it won't give me the option to transfer with a data cable. It just keeps trying to transfer through the network and I keep getting the same error message. I have turned off the Windows Easy Transfer on both computers, then restarted it. Now it won't give me a transfer key.It just keeps going right to the network transfer option and proceeds from there.
How can I get it to give me the option to use the data cable again? How in the world do I connect to a domain? Both computers have the same network connection. What can I do now?
Please advise,
dustman
