Rename User Folder!!!

Well! Any one can help to change the user folder name? I have changed the User Account Name from Contril Panle From 'ABCD' to 'XYZ'... But C:\Users\'ABCD'(User folder) is remaining with the same name. Any tips to change it to 'XYZ'?

No. There is no option to rename the folder. I have already taken the ownership. But found no way to rename.

This is a Known issue with Windows since the start of the User Folders

Although it may be possible to rename the folder structure from another administrator account the amount of work involved to change all the references throughout the system to keep the system running is vast.

These references proliferate throughout the system and the registry.

The only way I have seen this done is to create a new user with the correct name and migrate the user settings from the old to the new user. Even this I have not seen done for some years

It involves the use of the User Profiles dialog in the advanced system settings which is present in professional but I think may not be in the home versions.

If you have the option it should be a simple matter to use the Copy to ... option to copy the settings from the old account to the new one

I have created another user account. How can I transfer all my files and setting to the new profile? So later on i can delete the old one.

Control panel - system - advanced system settings - user profiles

It looks like you may have to be logged in as the full administrator to copy any profile other than the default one, (if it is still possible at all), as they are normally greyed out.

It may also be that this function will only work when in a domain environment where profiles are often pre defined and allocated later

of course a simple copy of the Apps folder may be enough to transfer settings for your applications
