Unexpected Shut Down and Restart frequently

Hi guys.

My Dell pc has shutdown and restart frequently almost every 10 minutes.
The problem message that i got after it restarts is as follows:-

Probably a hardware issue. BCCode 116 is typicly GPU issues. Download the latest gpu drivers for your model. Reset clock settings if you are overclocking. Also, for good measure, run MemTest to check if you have memory issues.

You're seemingly not overclocking. If you were, you'd know because you would had to consciously change the multiplier or frontside bus speed in BIOS (for the CPU), or changing the clock-speed of the GPU in the Display Control Panel settinngs (or flashing a modified gpu firmware). So don't worry about that.

If you have a DVD-Burner, I would suggest downloading this iso-file;

Use ImgBurn or another Burning software to burn a DVD. This will be a bootable disc, you can boot up on it and run the MemTest software without entering Windows. If you can run it for 24 hours without a reboot or error, you can conclude that the memory is ok.

But I do suspect that it is a hardware error with your GPU, it might be overheating, or is faulty. You should contact Dell if re-installation of the graphics driver does not help. Also, if it's an AMD or nVidia based graphics card, download the latest drivers from their web-pages, and not from Dell (which might have old drivers).

It's a Nvidia GPU and got the latest drivers from its website earlier.
By the way, if the GPU is overheating issue, does it mean that enhance the ventilation will solve the problem? It actually tends to shut down and restart unexpectedly after running about 1 hour, then recur about every 10 minutes.

You can download GPUTemp from GPU Temp to check the temperatures. Google the model of your gpu to find out what it's reccomended operating temperatures (and max load temps) are. Btw, are you doing some heavy gaming or 3D rendering when the computer restarts? or is it just restarting for no reason while browsing the web and the like?

Its the RAM playing up i feel when it cant take the load or if the processor gets heated up . I had the same problem and i couldn't find out what the problem was . Hi Kishiro, thanks a lot for your big help. My PC seems ok since you told me to update my GPU drivers.
No more unexpected shut down and restart again for the passed 7 days.

Nope. Normal usage only.
It was due to GPU driver update I think. It's ok after done the updates.:)
Btw, will try out GPUTemp too to check its temperature.
