What do I do after booting into Safe Mode?

My PC boots into Safe Mode just fine. When I boot into normal mode it fails. I just get a dark screen with the disk drive light blinking. What's the next step? Is there a way to find out what is preventing it from completing the normal startup process?

Do you get the win7 startup animation?
Black screen after login?

Try Troubleshoot Application Conflicts by Performing a Clean Startup same problem? (revert to normal boot afterwards)
