Can't Set Folder Views

I am running Windows 7 Ultimate. I am having issues setting views, for instance....If I want things in a list, and choose that it stays however when I go into folder options in control panel the apply to all folders is greyed out.

Got any ideas?

Hello Stu,

You would need to open Folder Options from within the same folder you want to apply instead.

Folder View - Apply to Folders

OR

Folder View - Set a Default for All Folders

Any other ideas?

Are you doing it from a source folder and not from within a library?

I am doing it from within the folder. But it doesn't work when I go into folder options in control panel.

Yeah, "Apply to Folders" will only not be grayed out if you open Folder Options from the menu bar in that open folder instead of from the Control Panel.

Double check to see if you are opening Folder Options using the method in Option 2 or 3 in the tutorial below.

Go ahead and post some screenshots showing what you see while doing it to see if something may standout.

Customising folder views
In my old Windows XP I could set the folder view for each folder individually but in Windows 7 it seems that if I change the view in one folder it changes all the folders. I have found that if I access a file by avoiding the libraries (which is a long way round) then I can do it but if I use...

Folder views and options
I like my folders/files view to be the "details" view - name, size, date, all that stuff. I can see how to get to "folder options" to make that happen, but the "apply to all folders" button, which would make this my default, is grayed out so I can't click it. How do I fix this? Also, in...

Folder views question
Win 7 is doing this differently than Vista did and it has me stumped! For example in my documents I have the folders set to be viewed at "medium icons" and when I open a subfolder they too show as medium icons. In Vista I had some folders like my company's main folder set to the normal medium...

Are folder views preserved in Seven?
I remember with Vista the folder views would change on their own at times. I.E. If I set a folder to view as "large icons", it would show "list format" instead when I went back to view it (or other view options). The same is true if I custom sorted files in a folder. Sometimes after...

Folder and Subfolder views
Hello, I have a slight problem with my Music folder (W7 x64), I'd like different views for my folders and sub-folders but if I apply one type, ALL folders gets the same view type. Here is what I'd like to do : Music : content as List ------Artists : Content as List ------------Albums :...

Can there be different folder views?
