Just out of interest is there a place to download just the graphic driver, even when I deselect all the add on software in the CCC package I always seem to end up with programs I don't want or need.

Not that I know of. You can find the latest drivers here:

    https://www.sevenforums.com/graphic-c...ndows-7-a.html

    Or here:

    Guru3D.com

Like you say you need to deselect the options to install anything but the drivers.

Once you sweep the drivers, give first chance to Windows Updates after enabling Automatically deliver drivers via Windows Update (Step 3).

Install all Important and Optional since there may be patches for your hardware needed. Look for the Display driver Windows wants.

If it's not delivered then next go to the Support Downloads webpage for your model PC or display adapter to see what driver it wants you to use.

Thanks gregrocker I will try your suggestion, also thanks Callender your reply was as I feared,am I right in thinking you have no option to not download the engine control centre every time you install the driver?,thats what I usually always end up with.

That's why to try the driver Win7 wants first via WIndows Update. No CCC. Plus all drivers are vetted in Windows Hardware Quality labs and modified or rewritten under WHQL label if needed.

Thanks again gregrocker that sounds like just what I need so will go with this option.Sorry to Ech0es if I derailed the post with my comments but I am also having problems with a black screen sometimes on a restart and im sure its linked to my graphic driver which I updated from the AMD site around the same time the problem started.
