Possibly not. This is why you want to scan from boot when any infection is inert and cannot hide. Try Download Avira Rescue System | Official Website which has a How-To on the downloads page to read.

Once inside the OS be sure to do a full scan with Malwarebytes.

Have you gotten in yet?

No. I have not gotten in yet.

Im getting system repair disk from my sister. About 6 pm Pacific tonight

I had my laptop die on me in June, 2014.

Ive done about 5 re formats of my computer over the years.

Im getting tired of computers being 'allowed' to breakdown. That laptop that broke down was only 6 months old.

Where's Ralph Nader when you need him?

There should be a backlash against computers.

(I going to make system repair disk for my computer during daylight savings time ( on a regular basis)

Instead of lashing out since you came to the top tech forums on the web (in history) why not benefit from your visit by doing one last perfect Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7.

That tutorial is based on what works best in tens of thousands of installs we've directly helped with here since beta Win7.

A million consumers have done one without a single complaint. You will get and keep a perfect install for as long as you stick with the tools and methods in that tutorial.

When you do get it sorted out put the Hitman Pro The one with Kickstart on it onto a Flash Drive & just keep it somewhere. I don't see why if it will boot your PC from a flash drive Bypass all the other windows startup programs & take you straight to you OS you already know,it ought to get you to your user account & control panel.it is free you can make up the flash drive on any PC then use the flash drive to boot up any other PC, i would have tried it yesterday,I seem to remember you said you have a laptop with windows 8 on it.so you could make up the flash drive on that PC in just 10 mins.

Greg,
I was not lashing out at this board.
I was making a statement about how we, s consumers, are held hostage and if a person's computer breaks down a day after the warranty expires, they might be screwed.

I wasnt lashing out at a board that has been here to help me and which I have thanked the board.

I made a Win 7 repair disk from my sister's computer.

I ran it on my computer by pressing F11, which went to system restore but I got this error message
"0x8000ffff" error message when you try to restore a Windows 7-based computer by using System Restore

I tried various keys (Esc, F2, F8, F11) and it was only system restore that progressed anywhere

- I tried startup repair; system restore from these photos. Is there another option I should try?

I went to hitman and placed it on a usb drive but nothing is happening.

I go thru the boot screen but that just goes to the Safe mode screen. It doesnt run as it is shown in the video

Again, thanks for all the help

I didn't say you were lashing out at us, just to stay calm so we can help you better.

To boot media you'd tap the HP ESC key at boot to select Boot Menu, or reboot into BIOS setup to set the CD drive to boot first. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ZJ5i3eYgKA

If you would have mentioned what your PC make is we could tell you this. Please fill in your specs as best you know them in the bottom left of your post.

This makes me wonder how you have been booting the other disks if you've been using a key that is not intended to boot a disk? Try them all now with the proper key.
