    Reputation

    Hi everyone!

I'm not exactly new here... but been a while since I posted...

So when I close a thread as answered (i will be doing that in next few days, but wanted to prepare myself), what is the process for giving reputation? I followed a link that "A Guy" posted in #195 here 4 days ago. It explains some things... but not everything...

Suggestions for updating the section on Reputation: (found under user profile features of Frequently Asked Questions thread)

    Questions missing:

Can I only give reputation "once" per thread when I close it?

Am I only allowed to give reputation while the thread is open (prior to marking it solved) or does that power continue after I actually press solved?

No order of operations i.e. step 1 close thread... step 2 give reputations (not so demanding like that but I'd like to know what closing a thread stops me from doing before I do that!)

There was a mention about "reputation power" link or button in myu profile, indicating how much I have to give... I must have nothing... as i can't find the said button....

(on another note, there was a mention in one of the FAQ of a print menu button upper right... I clicked on lots of things... not there.. can someone show me which icon it looks like? Would be nice to print a printer friendly copy of some pages if I can when people give good advice in my and other threads!)

Thanks for reading these and answering if possible.

XP VM USER (guess I got stuck with name from my first posting..... and I will not violate rules by making another name for myself as that was a rule in the Forum rules not to do it)

You can rep whenever you want to, solved and unsolved threads. You can rep a post in a thread where you have never posted a single post. You can rep several posts in a same thread, the only restriction being that you have to rep 10 other members before you can rep the same member again.

See above. You cannot rep very old posts but other than that, you can rep whenever you want to, any member you want to, as often as you want to (same member only after repping 10 other members), in all threads solved or not, in threads started by any member.

Notice that you cannot rep in News and Chillout subforums.

Marking the thread solved does not close the thread nor has it any whatsoever connection to rep giving, you can still post in that thread as can other members and you (or anyone else) can still rep posts in that thread. The solved status is only there to help members and guests alike browsing the forums to see that this thread contains a solution. Too often OPs forget to mark thread solved so the Solved indicator missing does not automatically mean that the issue is still unsolved.

Reputation power is based on your status, how long have you been a member, how much rep you have, how many posts you have posted and so on. The longer you stay, the more you post, the more rep you gain, the more rep power you will have. It determines the amount of rep points you give to another member when you rep him / her.

Rep power is capped at 45 points, when your rep power is more than that you will give 45 rep points. For instance if I would now rep you you, you would only get 45 rep points although my rep power at the moment is 1,250. It would be insane without a rep cap, a few reps from senior members could give a member with two or three posts a medal.

Go to your UserCP to see the last reps you have given and received, you'll find your rep power there:

Each page in every thread has a Thread tools menu, Printable version option can be found there:

John (our admin z3r010) has been flexible regarding this matter and allowed one username change. Contact him requesting a username change.

Notice that I cannot promise your request will be granted, John alone decides :).

    Thank you Kari

Hi Kari in Germany from Finland!

    Thanks for all the information!

I already got a page printed using the pull down menu under Thread Tools!

I already gave you reps (I don't know how many you got can you tell me??) using the little icon on top right of the post!

I have to now go back and reward those who wrote so much on my other posts! No wonder they were unhappy.. no reputation from me for helping me with long long posts I typed for they had to read a lot!
Now I can reward them properly!!

Lots of other items worked too...

I just have to come up with a new name for me here that is appropriate for this site so that everyone doesn't lose all my other prior posts (need name before I ask Jay in case he grants me permission quickly--- I need to be prepared!)

    Thanks again Kari!

You are welcome. For future reference, I am a Finn, not Swede, living in Germany. Calling me names makes me angry and for us Finns, calling us Swede is calling us names . I forgive you now and tell you a typical Finnish joke:

How do you increase the average IQ both in Finland and in Sweden? Send the Finn with the lowest IQ to Sweden.

About your rep power, how many rep points I got from you, see your UserCP. Check the box "Latest Reputation Given", its right top corner shows your rep power.

Yes, I remember seeing a flag and posted it before I could click on the flag (when composing messages, they don't show all the graphic stuff like flags so I could not check it out while typing in the larger Post Reply box---as soon as I posted, then I saw my error of my ways and corrected it as you see above, calling it "spelling" error (right, I misspelled your country).

I've heard that type of joke before! Funny funny! There is a comedy show in US maybe you'd like called "Welcome to Sweden".... showing us all the weird and wacky ways of people of Sweden through the eyes of an American who follows his fiancée back to her homeland....

    Thanks again Kari!

Refer to screenshots in Post 204 above

    Hi Everyone again!

An infrequent user, with a question or two for anyone.....

Question 1 I have been uploading screenshots to my posts...but they all appear ONLY at the end of the post and I have to figure out creative ways of labeling them "i.e. Screenshot 1 of 4" etc... to get everyone to read from my text to the screenshot....

I know there is a way to "intersperse" or alternate my uploaded screenshots with text as Kari did in his post #204 above.

I entered in the Search Terms box "Screenshots How to add to threads" and got nothing..
Sorry - no matches. Please try some different terms.
I know someone posted it somewhere for others to read as I found it before, but not now... why is it not listed in the FAQ's???

Question 2 Why are my searches always empty? I just don't know the proper terminology to use... if I did, I would not need to search for it, right?

    Thanks!
