    A DELLUITLY partition..irrelevant now
a linux swap partiton...irrelevant now - but is the ACTIVE partition
    a linux ext4 partition...irrelevant
A NTFS partition labeled OS for win7.

Linux boot menu (GRUB2) correctly chainloads to win7 bootmanager. I want to see what's in bootmenu! So get a win7 install or system repair CD!!

If all else fails, what always works is to Mark Partition Active the Win7 or it's 100 mb System Reserved partition Active then run Startup Repair - Run 3 Separate Times.

You can then install EasyBCD to add Linus to a Windows Dual Boot menu as suggested in Where to install ubuntu in my system?
How do you do that in Ubuntu? Your link illustrates how to Mark Partition Active in Windows 7 only...
The links also show how these operations are done from the Win7 disk System Recovery Options Command line which applies in this case.

I would not delete the Dell Utility partition as long as Diagnostics boot via F12 as these are valuable and often will still boot to run after reinstall.

Ok, i got the Windows 7 installation disc and marked the 101 MB disk partition as active like you suggested from this link Partition - Mark as Active . I restarted the computer and it shows the GRUB rescue mode now...it says
    Code:
     Error: Unknown filesystem
    Entering rescue mode...
    grub rescue>
    upon typing ls I got
    (hd0) (hd0,msdos4) (hd0, mdos3) (hd0, msdos2) (hd0, msdos1)

I can no longer even log in to Ubuntu anymore. I'm starting to worry...PLEASE HELP!!

    bootrec.exe/fixmbr
The first command showed error and second command was ok then when i restarted it says "MISSING OPERATING SYSTEM"...Please help guys...

    In recovery environment ->command prompt
Which of the 3 displays the USERS folder and your account name in it?
    Code:
    dir c:\users
    dir d:\users
    dir e:\users
Where is the bootmenu (hopefully not on 2 partitions)?
    Code:
    dir/a c:\boot\bcd
    dir/a d:\boot\bcd
    dir/a e:\boot\bcd

Did you read #21 ? Best thing you can do:
    • Mark the 581GB NTFS partition ACTIVE
    • Reboot from install DVD and do recovery environment->startup repair (3x) Startup Repair
    Tip
Sometimes it may take running a startup repair (3) separate times with restarting the computer after each time before it fully fixes the startup issue.

Windows 7 should boot succesfully afterwards. Post results. Afterwards I give you instructions how to add linux to win7 bootmenu

To add linux to the win7 boot menu, download install and run easybcd ( EasyBCD Download Registration - NeoSmart Technologies just click DOWNLOAD):

Take note of the confirmation message that appears briefly at the bottom of the panel.

Perhaps I should have waited for your reply instead of reading that post...I regret it now!!
Sorry, the camshot's quality are not good so i'm just gonna type...
    diskpart:
    Code:
    Microsoft Diskpart version 6.1.7600
    Copyright...
    On computer: MININT-AFRVID8
select disk 0: shows 38 different commands from ACTIVE to UNIQUEID with desciption of each...i guess all of these are not required...

list part: There is no disk selected to list partitions. Select a disk and try again.

    list volume:

Volume### Ltr Label Fs Type Size Status Info

    Volume 0 D CD_ROM CDFS DVD-ROM 3562 MB Healthy
Volume 1 C OS NTFS Partition 581 GB Healthy Hidden
Volume 2 - DELLUTILITY FAT Partition 100 MB Healthy

    dir/a d:\boot\bcd

-All of these six commands show same thing as "select disk 0" command i.e. 38 command names from ACTIVE to UNIQUEID with their decription.

-Yes, I read #21 but I was hoping for some other way to recover Windows without deleting my UBUNTU contents...but I'm willing to sacrifice UBUNTU at the moment...I installed UBUNTU in somewhat similar manner previously too...

-So, I guess I should run Startup Repair three times now??
