About a year ago I upgraded my ram from 4 to 8 gig on my laptop I like to run Virtual Machines and noticed an improvement, But if all you are doing is surfing the web and watching videos you probably won't notice anything spectacular

Well, Dell wants $59 for their MEMORY & BB wants 44.95 for PNY-4gb DDR-3 SDRAM MEMORY. BB is just down the street. I compared the two specs and the speed of dell was 1600mhz PNY at BB was 1300mhz.

Is adding extra RAM going to make any difference to performance?
Hi, I'm new here and did a quick search but didn't really find an answer to my question. I'm a user rather than a geek/nerd - and I mean no disrespect by using those terms, just trying to illustrate my level of knowledge and competence. I build my computers myself so I'm happy to take the lid...

Weird MBR Volume Extra Drive Show Up
Ok ,this is really weird. I don't know if someone is taking over my computer or what. Boot up is really slow with process taking 50% CPU. Account unknown is on the logon under permissions as well as the console logon. I have to kill the process or else the process keeps using up my ram. This is on...

Speed difference going from AHCI to IDE
I had some reason for moving from Sata mode AHCI to IDE (Reason in this thread) Most material I read didn't have any compelling speed disadvantage so I did some informal speed tests. Results for those interested (This not an SSD): CrystalDiskMark speed tests don't show any significant difference....
