How to ping a server through a certain port?

Does anyone know how to ping a server through a certain port? If so, what would be the command?

I don't think that you can ping a specific port.

Have you tried typing the server IP address + Port (e.g. //127.0.0.1:443) into your browser's address bar?

You can't ping a port because pinging uses ICMP protocols, you would need UDP or TCP where ports are established.

See what you can do with Telnet. the cmd would be: telnet xxx.xxx.xxx.x port#

Yep, but it won't work if you're trying to run a cmd without a telnet application/program.
It's not installed by default: Install Telnet Client

It appears I have telnet already but when I type in the command to ping it it showed only a cursor for a couple of seconds then it shows C:\Users\(mypcname)>

What does that mean?

Did you go to programs and features >Features, and click on the telnet feature to turn it on?

What ip address did you type in? Your result looks like it was 127.0.0.1 which would ping back to a port on your machine.

And just to be on the safe side, did you restart your machine?
