    Cannot open a file (Internet Explorer) in my email.

    Hi: I have an email with an attachment which suddenly I cannot open. I receive the following message: "Your current security settings do not allow this file to be downloaded". How do I change these settings? I have disabled Norton but that didn't work.

    Thanks,

    What email client? You can't open it because it isn't on your local PC yet, it's on the email server from your description, still? (though choice of word suddenly is interesting...)

    If you aren't connected to the internet, that would do it.
    If the attachment was not allowed at the server level due to size restrictions or content, that might be issue, also.

    Please elaborate on details if that wasn't of any help.

    See if the following helps;

    · Open Internet Explorer.
    · Click Tools and then options.
    · Click on the security tab.
    · Select the Internet Zone.
    · Click on the Custom Level Button and then scroll down to Download.
    · Make sure to enable File download.
    · Click Apply and Ok
    · Restart Internet Explorer and check if that helps.

    Ardath Morrison do you know who sent you this email attachment?
    Is it normal for you to get attachments from the sender?
    You must be positive that it is a safe attachment.
    Attachments to email is a very high security risk.
