Windows 7 and 4 Gig of Ram

I am going to be installing Windows 7 Home 32-bit. I have 4 gig of ram. Would I be wise to take out 2 gig? I have heard about the problems with more than 2 gig.

I wouldn't take out the RAM. See if it installs first. I do recommend removing unnecessary hardware (USB devices, extra drives, etc) before installing an OS.

Hello Bigmck,

This was an issue with older motherboards that needed a BIOS update, and mostly with 64-bit OS's. You should not have a problem with installing now. If you do, then you can always removed the extra stick and reinstall.

You can leave the Ram in either way but going to 64 bit will allow you to use all 4GB.

Installed 7 x64 with 4 GB of ram installed many times with zero problems. I second the recommendation to go with x64 so you can use all your ram.

Doesn't the Motherboard have to support 64-bit before you can use it? As far as I can tell mine is 32-bit?
