Password Reset Wizard - no option for using CD/DVD or USB

Hello - Trying to create a password reset disk but when I get to the option which media to use I do not get the option for a CD/DVD or a USB drive. This happened on 2 computers, a third worked fine. I do not get any error messages. File manager reports the CD/DVD drive active and same with the USB drive. The only options that do show as available is the Floppy drive and an external USB backup drive. So the question is why don't the CD and USB option appear in the Wizard? Or, better yet, how do I get them to appear? Thanks.

Is the flash drive formatted? If so, is it FAT32 or NTFS?
Did you try all the USB ports on the computer?
Can you write to the flash drive and read from it?

I was able to do this on a old 16MB (MB, not GB) flash drive. The userkey.psw is only 2K in size.

I tried an NTFS drive in a known good USB port (tried other ports as well), then I tried a FAT32, re-started the wizard and then both drives were now showing as available. The optical drive is still missing/not an option.
PS - this is not a critical issue - just strange. Thanks.

Are you using an Administrator level account or a standard account?

Try booting to Safe Mode or Safe Mode with Networking, see if it works then.
