Windows Explorer Does Not Include Desktop as a Separate Entry

When I open Windows Explorer in my Windows 7 system, it does not

include "Desktop" in its menu. It seems to have been shuffled

such that I can only find "Desktop" by opening "Favorites" and

then within "Favorites" open "Downloads." "Desktop" is currently

a shortcut in the "Downloads" folder. I am not sure that

"Downloads" belongs in Windows Explorer's "Favorites" menu, but I

know pretty much for sure that "Desktop" is supposed to have its

own location in the Windows Explorer menu. How do I reshuffle

Windows Explorer so that "Desktop" and "Downloads" each has its

own location in the Windows Explorer menu?

If Desktop is currently shown in your Downloads folder it should be moved.

You can find it location by clicking on Computer & then click Local Disc C:, then click on Users & then click on the name that you use for your computer. This will show a list of User files. Click on your Downloads folder & then copy the Desktop folder & paste it into the User Directory. If this now shows all your Desktop short cuts etc. & works correctly you can delete the old Desktop Folder from the Downloads Folder.

Yes, thank you whs. Your suggestion does allow "Desktop" to have a place WITHIN the "Favorites" listing in Windows Explorer. However, what I really would like is for both "Desktop" and "Downloads" each to have its own separate listing in the Windows Explorer menu. Is that a doable goal?

That's what Favorites is on the Explorer bar for.

You can rightclick on Desktop under your User name (it's home) to Add to Library, then from the right click context menu Create a Library. It will now appear on the Bar prominently under Libraries. But it appears even higher under Favorites! So what's not to like?

Okay, thank you, whs. I looked at the Windows Explorer on a different Win 7 computer, and the

lineup is virtually the same as how mine now looks after the "Right click on Favorites > Restore

favorite links" that you recommended.
