Try resetting BIOS to defaults after taking note of SATA controller setting. Clear CMOS - 3 Ways to Clear the CMOS - Reset BIOS
Try booting into a Boot Disk like Peppermint3 - Create Live CD/DVD/USB To Use For Emergency Backup - Windows 7 Forums to see if the PC will shut down from that when Win7 isn't involved.
Then try again with the HD unplugged to cut it out entirely.
If this occurs with the boot disk then you know it isn't OS or HD related, but is in the mobo.
Is there an on off switch on the power supply ?
How about unplugging the pc ? That will do it.
You say you`ve tried everything, but have you tried a simple system restore ?
Have you put the power settings back to default settings ?
Have you edited your registry at all?
Going on the dump file it's possible the system hive is corrupt or the registry is missing values.
Hi I'm having the same issue with my laptop. Every time I try to shut it down it would stay off for a split second then come back on again. The only way to keep it off is to leave the battery out and to turn it on if I get it off AI have to take the battery out first then re-insert it then it comes back on by itself. This has been happening since Sunday I've edited the registry, checked all drivers and installed software but nothing seems to be working. Can someone please help me?
