    Windows 7 after Augest 1?

What will happen to Windows 7 after this date? I dual boot so i will have no problems but I enjoyed this OS so much!!!
Its the best one i ever saw!! And i don't want to say goodbye!
    Will there another beta?
Or like thanks for trying the beta here is a free copy?:)
though i would even show some respect to Microsoft and buy a copy...

It will just not work after that. But there will be a Release Candidate released, probably around April and you can install that. By August they might even have the final 7 released by then and you can buy it. :)

Hello kernelmode, welcome to Se7en Forums!

Airbot answered your questions, but I know I will be purchasing Windows 7 when it's released.

Are you serious? I hope it's released that early, do you really think Windows 7 in 09? or 1st Qtr 2010?

You never know. I don't doubt that it will be ready by the end of this year.

I just read that MS gained a small jump with this beta, reclaiming some of their market share. I think it will be out much sooner.

One can only hope apple...one can only hope

I just want MS to make sure it's ready when they do release it, but after working with this beta for awhile now, I don't see too many issues that can kill this puppy.

sorry to be so naive, but what is a release candidate? Will this be open to all beta users?

It seems strange that MS would cut off the continuity of the product in the steps between beta and retail release - especially in light of such positive feedback and the resistance to returning to vista.

A "Release Candidate" is generally feature-complete, with very little chance of any major changes being made prior to RTM or GA ("Release To Manufacturing" and "General Availability"). An RC version is only likely to to be changed if some MAJOR flaw is discovered.

RC versions of 7 may be made public, just like Vista had it's RC versions public...

Thanks Dzomlija, now everything is clear.

I'm very taken with 7, and I really really don't want to look back to vista or XP.

Do microsoft offer incentives to the beta community when the product goes to market, or is it a case of "thanks for the support and feedback - the queue starts back there...?"
