Grey bar/line not allowing clicking or scrolling

I was on a web page and I don't know what I clicked on but a horizontal grey bar/line, 4 inches long and 1/4 inch tall showed up on the left side of my screen about 2 inches from the bottom of the screen.

A small window opened up saying something, didn't read it (like a dummy), but I just wanted to get rid of the bar/line. I clicked on a small box that said, "Got it". Didn't see an "X" anywhere.

Now, the bar/line won't go away while I'm online but it does go away when I'm not online. It won't let me click on links below the bar/line or if I put the mouse under it, I can't scroll. Everything works when I'm not under it.

Any ideas?

Thank you

oscer1,

That fixed it. Thanks to you as well as the others held my hand through this ordeal.

Gotta remember that little question mark.

I'm trying to do things like select multiple files (or folders), paste a file, or create a new file/folder but if I click anywhere on the line, it selects the file as if I was clicking on the file name.
