Windows 7: jumping keystrokes

jumping keystrokes

I have a Windows seven 64 bit laptop and when typing, the cursor will jump back to some place else in the text. Very annoying. I try typing slower but it still seems to happen. If I use an external keyboard, the problem seems to go away. I keep my hands away from the laptop cursor controls.

So lets say you single finger type and absolutely nothing hits the mouse pad, this still happens? This is almost always a problem with hitting the mouse pad in some way. Which can be fixed by disabling it all together (usually done by using the Fn key that might be on your keyboard, probably on your numbers or F1-F12 keys) or sometimes if you go into mouse properties you can lower the sensitivity of your mouse pad.

I'm not sure how to use the Fn key to reduce sensitivity. In Control Panel, I only see Mouse stuff and nothing about a mouse pad. Right now as I'm typing this it's working ok. Incidently, I use all my fingers like a typewriter. I have tried covering up the mouse pad with paper or cardboard but that was no help.
I can't believe it, still has jumped since I started.

No FN key would disable the mouse pad completely. It looks very similar to what your a mouse pad looks like.

This should help:
Enable (turn on) or disable (turn off) the touch p... - TOSHIBA FORUMS

If you did this, you would need an external mouse
