How to Designate Default Downloads File

In Windows 7, the Downloads file is tucked away in Users; I want my downloads to go to a Downloads file on my D:\ drive; thought I had ferreted out how to designate that but -- typically, since Microsoft Always Knows Best!! -- they are not going there, still just to the Users one.

    Help appreciated. Thanks.

    Hello Hikermann,

If you like, you could create a new folder on your D drive, include the new folder to your Downloads library, and set the new folder as the default save location for the Downloads library.

This way anything you save to your Downloads library will actually be saved to the new folder on D, and you can see all files in the library as well.

    Library - Include a Folder

    Library - Set Save Folder

This would be a lot safer, problematic, and easier than moving your "C:\Users\(user-name)\Downloads" folder.
