Language Bar/Display Language problem

Hello,

I'm in Korea and have been using both Korean and English on my laptop. Last night my keyboard suddenly became unable to switch to Korean to type (or more specifically, would 'switch' to Korean but still use English letters when I typed). I've searched everywhere and tried everything I can to fix it but nothing is working.

From what I can gather, the Korean keyboard layout has somehow switched to English letters instead of Korean (when I go to languages/keyboards -> Change Keyboards -> select the Korean keyboard and click properties it brings up the keyboard layout and it's all English letters).

I assumed the best thing to do would be to just re-install the language, but I can't figure out how to do that. I don't have the option from the previously mentioned keyboard/languages location, and the best answer I could find online had something to do with Windows updates, but that didn't work for me either.

What am I doing wrong?

Hi atwoodruff, welcome to Windows 7 Forums.

You could try a System Recovery. Open Control Panel & select Recovery & see if there is a Recovery Point that you can use, that precedes your current problem.
If that works then just install the updates that will probably show up as being needed, one at a time. Restart your computer after each one & if you find one that causes this problem, uninstall it & then hide it so it does not show up again.

Thank you for the reply! I have tried that several times now, but I keep getting an error: 0x80070005

The most common fix that I've seen for this error is disabling your anti-virus program (specifically norton), but I don't have Norton and I disabled my anti-virus and got the same message. Any other ideas and/or fixes for this error?

Again, thank you for taking the time to reply!!

You could have a look at this MS website. Read through it & click on the links to get more info. There is a fix mentioned that would be worth trying.
