    Logging off forever

    Hi
I have a problem that when I shut down (or log off) my laptop it stays on logging off screen. I tried waiting for about 30 min before I just forced power off.
It seems this happens when Windows Explorer is acting strangely (taking a lot of time to load some folders, not loading some icons). Not sure if they are always happening together but a lot of times they are. Last time I tried to close Explorer before shutting down but even killing the process didn't completelly shut it down.
When I turned on VerboseStatus flag it showed: wait for System Event Notification Service when logging off.

Anything I can do to fix it? (other than clean install)
    Thanks

Establish a Clean Boot, check for infection, run SFC, utilize the System Resources to find problems and solutions, as well as the other Troubleshooting Steps for Windows 7 which uncover most problems..

    HDD & Drivers

HDD problems can also cause a slow shutdown.
Try running Disk Check on your HDD.

    Drivers can also cause problems.
I've just spent over a week trying to get my new 3 TB HDD to work correctly.
One of the issues I had was a long shutdown time.

It turns out that the problem was caused by my motherboard SATA drivers.

I ran SFC and it said it found some problems that can't be corrected automatically. How can I prceed from there? I have the log but I don't know what to look for and how to repair things.

It shows how to try to repair the files in SFC /SCANNOW Command.

If they won't repair then try a Repair Install
