Only recognising 1GB RAM

    Hmm, try this.

    Start, Accessories, Command prompt, type "msconfig" (no quotes), go to Boot tab, and advanced, and
    tick the maximum memory and put it to the maximum, if 2GB is really there, This should get to 2048mb, apply, and restart.

    It just defaults back to 1024mb

    I'll take a look at the sticks tomorrow and report back!

    Possibly, but it's been running fine until I upgraded...

    The msconfig option is to limit the RAM at bootup. Can you flash the BIOS, then check if the RAM modules are fully seated?
